"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

General Musings - Not for Faint of Heart

I was in the local library studying yesterday for yet another governmental agency administered qualifying exam to do my job, which I have a vague understanding of, given that I have been at it for three decades plus now, when I happened upon a prominently displayed placard on an easel appealing to me to shore up my "disaster preparedness". September is fittingly "National Disaster Preparedness Month", this, the brainchild of some clever FEMA bureaucrat.

Before you misconstrue the sarcastic overtone, permit me to state that I do realize that sound hurricane preparation habits are good for one's longevity. I personally practice good hurricane preparedness every day by choosing not to live 18 feet below sea level in some reconstructed backwater parish in Bayou County, Louisiana.

What bugged me about the placard wasn't the notion that people ought to be careful about hurricanes. We should. Nor was I bothered by the notion that having a plan about what to do in the event of any other variety of natural disaster can actually save our hides. We should do that too.

What bothered me was the somewhat fuzzy painting/drawing of a chunk of the World Trade Center hazily drawn in a water-color kind of way in background of the text. Well, it wasn't precisely a chunk of the Twin Tower smoldering in the ruins of 9/11, rather it was an artistic representation of that lingering horrific visual. T

The unspoken message, the subliminal implication was clear. Stuff happens. And next time, it could be big. And you know, we want you to know that we here at FEMA want you to be really safe. So go to our website and learn all sorts of neat stuff about adequately planning for your nutritional provision. Batteries! Don't forget the batteries. They are so important. I mean, if you want to see in the dark. And always have a meeting place so you and your loved ones can congregate around the part of town formerly known as Grandma's neighborhood.

So much easier to advocate this kind of non-sense, rather than incite mass hysteria while suggesting that the electorate truly contemplate a nuclear Iran. Remember, this U.S. government is the same U.S. government that once upon a time instructed school kids to duck their heads under the desk to avoid getting zapped by any of that radiation stuff. Geez, I am starting to remind myself of George Carlin in his cranky later year diatribes.

Why should any of this bother me?

Mother Nature did not coerce 19 Muslim radicals to crash occupied (with Real life Mommies & Daddies) jet liners into the World Trade Centers, killing nearly 3000 American citizens, whose only crime that day was getting out of bed and going to work, and thereby plummeting the American economy into a seemingly never ending death spiral. (Yes, I am aware there are many other contributory factors).

Who then? Who done it? I'll tell you who done it. It was RADICAL MUSLIM EXTREMIST KILLERS. If this phrase eludes your sensibilities, may I suggest you spend a few hours studying the homicidal/genocidal chronology of these adherents to Islam, The Religion of Peace (and a whole bunch of dead bodies).  http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/

So while FEMA advocates disaster praredness "light", of the tornado / river's a-risin' variety, they dare not mention the uber-gargantuan elephant in the living room of each and every house, in each and every burg in our America, which is, of course, dare I say it?, NUCLEAR DETONATION IN AN AMERICAN CITY, killing 100's of thousands or even millions of Americans in a single broad hit.

That kind of reality check would "scare the people" and common logic says that's no no.
I for one, would rather like to see the people scared.
Scared as in scared sh&^less!

Then perhaps, the people, more correctly, the electorate, might fully engage, recognize what's at risk, and choose, perhaps not to ever again elect or re-elect people like our current anti-Western, anti-Constitution, anti-capitalist, decidedly Marxist, quasi-American apologist, President who is currently doing his very best to dismantle our nation' greatest disaster preparedness tool, namely the US Navy, Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force.

That my friends is irony of the highest order. Is it now de facto, that rather than commit as one people to do WHATEVER it takes to prevent such a scenario from ensuing, our Leftist leaders choose rather to coax us merrily along, while working to advance our "disaster preparedness" skills when, NOT IF,  that day eventually arrives?

I have a wee bit of a problem with this logic.

And the rest of my fellow citizens might agree, if they took the time to recognize that survival as a nation, survival as in individual, is predicated on National Security and is more important than all of the other issues. Newt Gingrich is carrying this torch and I would wager that it hurts his electability. People just don't want to contemplate the unthinkable.  It's so depressing.  And it is.  But it is less depressing than appeasing Iran and winding up in a very sorry condition.  So I will take the lesser of those two evils every single time.

Listening to the radio last night, I chanced upon an interview with John Bolton. You know, John Bolton, that wacky guy GWB tried to install as the US representative at the (puking) United Nations. Remember that his Senate confirmation in that post was blocked by Chaffee and Reid and other Senate Democrats.

Ah yes, the U.N. That would be the same institution that regularly affords the insane, tyrannical, president of Iran a world forum, from which to spew his hate.  In fact he is there TODAY.  Doing his thing.  Spreading the love.

The U.N. is a heck of a fine organization, one frankly beneath the dignity of an American patriot like John Bolton. I'd like to see the next American president tell the U.N. to pack up their junk and take it to France.

Bolton, you see, unlike the President, and unlike our esteemed, really influential and super important and highly esteemed and... and...and etc. (all the news mags say she's so electable) Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton and unlike most of the other nationally elected Democrats, takes Mr. Ahmadinejad at his word.

His word essentially goes something like this...."I hate you America!!! You, you Great Satan. I hate your Jewish friends even worse. And given the chance, I hope to start WWIII and reduce the West and the Jews to ashes". I paraphrase. Of course he did not say precisely that. What he did say was far worse, far more redundant, far more ridiculous and ultimately far more ignored by our Neville Chamberlain act-alike President.

So, yeah, I am highly offended, that FEMA couches behind disaster preparedness rhetoric that implores Joe Citizen to get his game on just in case Katrina's evil twin bounces off the troposphere and viciously descends upon Omaha or San Diego or Schenectady, particularly when what they really mean to say is Uncle Sam is somewhat resigned to the notion that wacked despots like Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad might nuke the USA or our friends.  Now rather, they are making sure that those of us lucky enough to withstand the initial incineration will be adequately hydrated, have meeting places,  and have access to cell phones to contact the steaming cellular ashes of our kin.

Sorry for being a downer. But this is the sad truth. And it will remain the sad truth until this unpalatable reality comes to the forefront of the American electorate's foggy, entitlement-focused brain stem and the arguments of guys like Gingrich and Bolton are taken seriously and they are revered as the genuine American patriots and heroes that they most assuredly are. - W.S.
